The Se̓liš Ksanka Qĺispe̓ Project, is located just 5 miles from Polson, MT. This three-unit hydro plant has the capacity to generate 208 MW of electricity. On average, it produces 1.1 million MWh annually, enough to power 100k-110k homes every year! ?? #GreenEnergy

Over the coming weeks Flathead Lake's elevation will be slowly reduced to approximately 2891' by the end of October. The lake level is typically reduced in the fall to mitigate the impacts of wave action on shoreline erosion. Full pool is 2893.
For those who walk the SKQ Dam Overlook Vista steps in Polson: Please be aware that the trail follows a standardized schedule each year. It will close on October 15th, with gates locked for the season, and will reopen on April 15th in the spring. Please plan your visits accordingly.

The water supply forecasts and inflows did not change much this week. Project outflows will remain fairly stable. Flathead Lake remains at full pool at 2893 ft and will stay in the top foot through the holiday weekend. The project drafts to approximately 2891 ft by October 31 to mitigate the impacts of wave action on shoreline erosion. By the end of September or early October one can expect flows to increase on the Lower Flathead River below the SKQ project. Be safe and enjoy the rest of the summer recreation season. SKQ project outflows and the Flathead Lake elevation are dependent on many variables including lake inflows, weather, the demand for electricity, and non-power constraints such as the downstream fishery and flood risk management needs.
